Taught by: Marty Duran, CFM

Course Description:

This course is designed to offer exposure to some of the more complicated nuances of Substantial Improvement/Substantial Damage requirements found in the National Flood Insurance Program, the Florida Building Code, and local Flood Damage Prevention Ordinances. To open the workshop, and to prepare the attendees for a more in-depth discussion of the issues, a basic foundation of the NFIP, its structure, administration, and benefits will be presented. Additionally, basic components of the concept of SI/SD will be presented. The course will then move directly into FEMA’s Substantial Improvement/ Substantial Damage Desk Reference and discussion will be drawn directly from the Manual.
